Zenmuse L3 LiDAR has landed!

VGSS has received its DJI Zenmuse L3 LiDAR and put it straight to work—successfully completing a large-scale 2,200 ha (22 km²) production survey immediately upon delivery. The dataset exceeded expectations, producing consistently dense, well-classified point clouds with strong ground definition and reliable alignment to surveyed ground control.

Deployed on our proven Matrice 400 platform, the L3 marks a step-change over the L2, delivering sharper ground detail, faster acquisition and improved performance across quarries, open pits, environmental corridors, farmland and forestry. Hexadeca-return mode enables enhanced canopy penetration and more confident ground modelling in complex terrain and vegetation.

Equally important is what happens after the flight. VGSS has invested heavily in a high-performance, in-house processing workstation and storage infrastructure, purpose-built for large LiDAR datasets. Post-processing of the 22 km² L3 dataset was completed efficiently and without compromise, exceeding expectations in both turnaround time and data integrity. This ensures rapid delivery of survey-grade outputs, even on large or time-critical projects.

Late January L3 bookings are now open. Availability remains limited, with strong demand following the sensor’s deployment. All deliverables are supplied to integrate seamlessly with existing survey, GIS and mining workflows.
